Anglia Ruskin University

Anglia Ruskin University reached university status in 1992 and is divided into two main campuses; Chelmsford and Cambridge. Between them, Anglia Ruskin University’s campuses offer courses from undergraduate and professional qualifications through to postgraduate and research degrees for 28,000 students.

There are five Faculties of study at Anglia Ruskin University, which are then sub-divided into departments including:

 • Faculty of Arts, Law and Social Sciences
 • Faculty of Education
 • Faculty of Science and Technology
 • Ashcroft International Business School
 • Institute of Health and Social Care

Anglia Ruskin University Campus Life

It’s not all study at Anglia Ruskin University, the campuses also offer plenty of opportunity for respite and enjoyment. The libraries and computing facilities are superb, while both sites have a students’ union bar and regular social events. In addition, both Cambridge and Chelmsford have gyms, while Chelmsford also comes with a sports hall.

The City of Cambridge

Cambridge is the complete city; apart from the obvious allure of Cambridge University’s striking colleges, there is a lot to see and do here. Life is unhurried, yet the atmosphere is electric at the same time and there is always the River Cam to enjoy some punting and quiet respite. In addition, the town is loaded with numerous pubs and cheap restaurants ideal for days out or at night.

The City of Chelmsford

Chelmsford is another historical town, dating back more than 800 years and also boasting a Roman connection. Its impressive 15th century cathedral is its main sight and there are also many museums and surrounding quaint villages to explore. Chelmsford is also known for its excellent shopping, sports and leisure facilities and its civic theatres, while the high number of trendy cafes, bars and restaurants will be enough to keep students happy at any time of day or night.

Student Loans

Anglia Ruskin University is allowed to charge new full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
