Nottingham University

Formerly opened in 1881 and situated in the popular central English city of Nottingham, the University of Nottingham, the city’s first civic college, is well known among the nursing community. This multi-campus facility has worldwide appeal and the latest Research Assessment Exercise showcases Nottingham University's position as a world class research-led institution.

In addition to Nottingham University’s UK campuses there are also two campuses overseas - the University of Nottingham, China, and the University of Nottingham, Malaysia; both of which offer purpose-built campuses.

Nottingham University has five faculties, each of which is divided into a number of schools, and departments or divisions. The faculties include:

 • Arts
 • Engineering
 • Medicine and Health Sciences
 • Science
 • Social Science, Law and Education

Nottingham University Campus Life

The University of Nottingham offers three campuses in the Nottingham area: the University Park (including the nearby Medical School), Jubilee Campus, and the Sutton Bonington campus. These are among the best looking campuses in the UK, providing the perfect environment for studying and living.

University Park is just to the west of the city centre and is set in attractive parkland that has won the Green Flag award. Jubilee Campus is the closest campus to the city and is noted for its stunning buildings and quality facilities, while Sutton Bonington is farthest out and located in the Leicestershire countryside. In addition to these wonderful campuses are the newer campuses in China and Malaysia.

Student facilities at the three UK campuses are also very good and include shops, cafes, sports and leisure facilities and, of course, the excellent Students' Union.

Nottingham City

Well known throughout the world through its associations with Robin Hood, Nottingham is a great city to be based as a student, with its rich history, contemporary arts and fabulous museums. The compact city centre is centered on the impressive old Market Square, while the nearby cultural quarter is loaded with shops, cafes and bars. Music festivals are also extremely popular in the city and there are a fair few nightclubs and fine restaurants.

Student loans

Nottingham University is allowed to charge new, full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
