University of HullReceiving its university status in 1954, the University of Hull harks back to the 1930s and is revered for its research in many areas, including 3D visualisation and nanotechnology, environmental technologies, liquid-crystal technology, and many other exciting topics. The University of Hull has over 16,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students studying full- and part-time courses across two campuses; one in Hull and the other in nearby Scarborough. Hull University offers an impressive 900 courses every year in many fields, both modern and traditional, and also boasts 370 adult education modules. In addition, Hull University has received a very high score from the National Quality Assurance Agency in over 90 per cent of its departments. University of Hull Campus LifeBetween them, the two campuses at the University of Hull (including the University College Scarborough) have some outstanding statistics, including having one of the best students’ unions in the UK, the Hull University Union, with its 150-plus societies and much envied 'Asylum nightclub'.Social services are well represented at the Hull University Social Services Organization (HUSSO), which was awarded the Queen’s Anniversary Trust Gold Award for Community Service in the early 1990s. In addition, the University of Hull boasts the excellent Brynmor Jones Library - one of the largest university libraries in the UK - and very good sports and leisure facilities.
The city of HullLocated on the east coast of England in East Yorkshire, cosmopolitan Hull boasts great shopping options, numerous pubs and bars and some attractive sights.The centre of Hull is pedestrianised and there are many architectural treasures here, including the 700-hundred-year-old Holy Trinity Church and several brilliant museums. Entertainment options abound in the historic dockland, where extensive shopping, an Olympic-standard Ice Arena and the well-established Bowling Centre are situated. In addition many beautiful country parks can be found near to Hull.
The city of ScarboroughScarborough is located to the north of Hull and also lies on the East coast of England, featuring the other campus of the University of Hull. Scarborough is the oldest resort in Britain and has a cracking seaside location, with sparkling sands backed by amusement arcades and a tangle of interesting streets and alleys.A stroll along the Esplanade of South Bay will reveal Scarborough’s old Victorian architecture, while North Bay features most of the town’s amusement attractions. For nightlife, however, the seaside promenade has numerous popular cafes and restaurants and many fashionable pubs and discos.
Student LoansThe University of Hull is allowed to charge new, full-time students up to £3,000 a year for tuition fees from September 2006. Many students will apply for a student loan to cover their tuition fees and day to day living costs. Student loans are the best option for borrowing money for college as interest rates are traditionally low and repayments don't start until graduated students are in work and are earning over £15,000.
